The Eagles released "Tryin' to Get to You" on Mercury Records (#70391, the B-side of "Please Please") in 1954, the year before Elvis Presley's version was recorded. Advertising for The Eagles' record in "Billboard" magazine indicates that the format of the title was "Tryin' To Get To You", with an apostrophe. They recorded the original version of " Tryin' to Get to You" ( Rose Marie McCoy - Charles Singleton), better known through the versions by Elvis Presley (one of his Sun recordings) and The Animals (as "Trying To Get You"). The Eagles were a 1950s rhythm and blues vocal group from the Washington, D.C. The Some People soundtrack reached No.2 on the EP charts, and remained on the charts for a stay of 21 weeks. The Eagles contributed to the Some People soundtrack, and became Grainer's protégés, recording new versions of some of his film score work like the theme of the Maigret television series. Grainer was interested in The Eagles for a film project he was working on, Some People, about a fictional Bristol band not unlike themselves. The Eagles are one of the world's best-selling bands of all time, having sold more than 150 million records-100 million in the U.S. Hotel California is ranked 37th in Rolling Stone 's list of " The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time" and the band was ranked number 75 on the magazine's 2004 list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. At the end of the 20th century, two of their albums, Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) and Hotel California, were ranked among the 20 best-selling albums in the United States according to the Recording Industry Association of America.
